Shannon Powers is an associate attorney at Lederer Weston Craig PLC in the firm’s Cedar Rapids, Iowa office. Shannon practices in the areas of tort and commercial litigation as well as municipal law. Her practice focuses primarily on insurance defense. Shannon serves as a District 6 Representative on the Executive Council of the Young Lawyers’ Division of the Iowa State Bar Association. She also currently serves as the President of the Linn Law Club and Vice President for the Board of Governors of the Linn County Bar Association. She is a member of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association and serves on the Board of Editors for the IDCA’s quarterly publication, the Defense Update.
Shannon was admitted to the Iowa Bar in 2016 after earning her JD from Drake University Law School, where she graduated with high honors. While in law school she served on the Drake Law Review and was named to the Order of the Barristers for outstanding oral advocacy. Powers graduated summa cum laude with a degree in psychology from Iowa State University in 2013.
Shannon is a West Point, Iowa native. She is an avid Iowa State sports fan and enjoys playing euchre, jogging and spending time with her husband and son.
