Benjamin is member attorney at Lederer Weston Craig PLC in the firm’s West Des Moines, Iowa, office. Ben has been an attorney with the firm since graduating from the Creighton University School of Law, starting his career in Cedar Rapids before opening the firm’s West Des Moines, Iowa office in 2012.

Ben practices in civil litigation, with a focus on retail and hospitality liability, insurance defense, general liability defense, products liability, and personal injury. He serves as regional coordinating counsel for a leading national retailer / Fortune 500 company. Ben has tried numerous cases to the bench and juries in Iowa’s state and federal courts. While focusing mostly on the defense of civil litigation, Ben has also represented claimants and collected well over a million dollars for his clients.

Ben is active in the Defense Research Institute (DRI), having served as the Iowa State Representative, Iowa Membership Chair, and on several other boards and committees. Since 2009, Ben has served twice on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Defense Counsel Association’s Board including most recently from 2016 to 2019. Ben is also active in the invite-only National Retail and Restaurant Defense Association (NRRDA), invite-only Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), and the Themis Advocates Group, a national network of preeminent law firms. Ben has been recognized as a SuperLawyers Rising star every year from 2015 to present.

Ben is married to his wife, Leah Weston, a dentist in West Des Moines, Iowa. Ben and Leah have two daughters, Bellamy and Vivienne. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing sports with their daughters, sitting in the bleachers, traveling, and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Ben is a founding member of Professionals for Charity (“P4C”), a tax-exempt charity organization started in 2012 to fundraise for Des Moines, Iowa area children’s charities. Also, from 2010 to 2016, Ben was a member of the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish Iowa.
