Jim Craig

Member

Jim was a founding member of Lederer Weston Craig PLC in April 2007. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the University of Iowa. Jim earned his Doctor of Law degree, with distinction, from the University of Iowa Law School in 1983.

Jim has practiced law in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 30 years.  He practices in the areas of Construction Defense and Personal Injury Litigation.  Jim has tried more than 75 jury trials to verdict.

Jim has an extensive list of professional affiliations, which include serving as the Treasurer for Associate of Defense Trial Attorneys (2018-current), President of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association (2012-2013), President of the Linn County Bar Association (2002-2003), Member of the Board of Governors for the Iowa State Bar Association (2004-2008), and Member of the Association of Defense Trial Lawyers Executive Board (2015-2018). Jim is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers. Jim has served on a number of community boards and committees including the Iowa Supreme Court Civil Justice Reform Task Force (2010-2012), as a Board Member for Ohnward Bank & Trust Company since 2006, Board Member and Co-President of the Kennedy High Choral League, Member and Chair of the Lovely Lane United Methodist Church Administrative Council, Cedar Rapids Community School District’s 2016-2017 Facility and Learning Environment Master Plan Committee, and as a Member of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance Task Force on Education.

Jim is married to Debbie and has four children, Drew, Elise, Ethan and Madeline. Jim is an avid Hawkeye sports fan, loves to hunt pheasant and quail and to bike.
